Create a long list of keywords that are relevant to your business which are indicate your content, products and services as a result the searcher may be found and interested in what you offer. Now build your primary keyword list using your sense, competitors insight, keyword research tools, internal search data, analytics data. Just think about your audience what would they searched for your products, services and information in the search queries?

Step 2- Use Tools For Keyword Research

Use the Google Keyword Planner, Wordtracker keyword research tools to analyze the keyword list and to understand the search volumes of all your keywords. You can enter all of your keywords from your keyword list(Google Keyword Planner lets you enter up to 10,000 keywords), I recommend entering keywords with exact match like [baseball hats](you can also see this guideline) as a result this keyword tool will show exact results. If you enter keywords with broad match then it will show you broad results and suggested keywords those are related to your entered keywords.

Here is the post how to use Google Keyword Planner

Keywords search volumes are important point to get best keywords. For example, if first keywords has 10,000 monthly search volume and second keyword has 7,000 monthly search volume then you should choose first keyword but don’t get expect you will get 10,000 traffic for the first keyword. I recommend a formula for doing keyword research-

Low competition + High search volume = Find Rocking keywords those will help you get top place in the search results. Categorized your target keywords that medium to low competition. Target keyword phrases instead of single word

Note: Google keyword Planner show the competition score for advertisers, it’s paid search competition and not related to SEO. You can use this free tool to get your keywords competition score.

Category Page: Category page contain general information so you should target most general keywords. You can target 2-4 keywords per page.

Contact Us/Privacy Policy/etc.: These pages not need any keywords because these pages do not provide information to people.

Step 5- Keyword Targeting On Content

Once you have done your keywords define now you can begin entering these important and relevant keywords to specific pages. There are 7 places that you can use your keywords on your pages. These places are Page Title, Url, H tags, Body Content, Internal and external links, Image tag and Meta description. Meta keywords tag is also another place where you can put your keywords but Google does not count this tag in rankings because it’s too easy to manipulate and spam.
